This is a study for a larger linocut depicting the last four lines of the RS Thomas poem 'The Last of the Peasantry'. I find the words stark and have attempted to depict this, alongside the character's lack of joy in his existence. The vibrant colour of the sun is meant as a counterpoint to this and symbolise a warmth and hope that he seems oblivious to.
It is a varied edition; the three variations being different shades of yellow.
